Vandal & Otto – so greatly missed

Vandal du Domaine du Haut Quesney
Beauceron
2004 – 2013
Turkmen Ottoturk of RanchoLeon
Kangal Dog
2004 – 2013
Just a few days ago, watching the first Stanley Cup play-off match with one eye, we used the game as a distraction, because we knew perfectly well that Otto was dying. Even though an earthquake that day upset him sufficiently to jump up from his bed, there was no more hope for him.

And now he’s gone. How on earth can you lose both your dogs in in the span of three months? How is that possible?

We shall always remember our guys as a team, because they were best buddies all through their lives – except in regard to ownership priorities of trophy food. Trophies were any bits or pieces of animal carcass they found on the ranch.

Playing hard & sharing naps

Their relationship continued through our move to Costa Rica –
Vandal the leader & instigator, Otto happy to oblige
Staunchly protecting Herrchen in his office, sort of.
They always had each other’s back
When our Vandal died unexpectedly in February, Otto never had a chance. Losing his buddy compromised his already damaged immune system completely. We were fortunate to have had his company for these last few weeks.

Good-bye to both of you, best buddies and companions.
We like to imagine, you’re running together again, a team,
as we will always remember you.

Werdet Ihr Euch wieder neue Kangals anschaffen?

    Kiki
